Comprehensive cover is the cover as described above Plus Accidental Damage you do to your own car (caused by you or others), Vandalism and Malicious Damage.

Do I have a No Claims Bonus as a named driver?

If you have never had a policy in your own name, but have driving experience as a Named driver or on a company policy we should be able to give you an introductory no claims discount.

How much is a No Claims Bonus discount worth?

It varies, but generally for each year that you are claims free you can earn approximately a 10% discount. Insurers cap the no claims bonus discount earned; the caps vary at 5 or 6 years.

What happens to my No Claims Bonus if I have a claim?

Following a claim your no claims bonus will be reduced. It will be stepped back instead of being lost completely. It is regardless of the claim being your fault or not. What is Step Back Bonus Protection?

Step Back Bonus Protection means that following a claim your earned no claims bonus discount is reduced or Stepped Back - instead of a complete loss. Then following a claim your bonus of 5 years will be reduced by 2 years and you will be entitled to a 3 year No Claims Bonus discount at your next renewal.

If your policy includes this benefit it is your own policy that will be affected if a claim occurs and it only covers the policyholder. Normally, cover is restricted to third party only. In simple terms this means that you are legally covered to drive the car and any damage you do to the car you are driving is not covered.
